Deposit
A deposit is money placed by a member with the society for safe-keeping and interest — such as Savings (SB), Fixed (FD), Recurring (RD) or Pigmy — which the society owes back to the member.
Members keep their savings with the society, which pays interest and returns the money on maturity or withdrawal. To the society, a deposit is a liability (it owes the member).
A deposit debits cash/bank and credits the member's deposit (a liability). Withdrawals, interest and maturity are posted against the same account; the balance is what the society owes the member.
Deposits are members' money and a core PACS/credit-society activity. Accurate per-member balances and interest keep members' trust and the books correct.
